Tingi lives with his grandmother, helping her tend to their cows. When armed soldiers arrive and confiscate their livestock, Tingi and his grandmother must flee into the surrounding bush. Staying hidden until nightfall, they face immediate peril when soldiers search the area, forcing Tingi to hide beneath a pile of leaves and remain utterly silent through a dangerous close encounter.
