Questions parents ask

Q: How much should my child read over the winter break?
A small daily time works better than a big target: 15 to 20 minutes for most 6 to 10 year olds, longer for older children who are into a book. Finishing one book they chose matters more than a page count.
Q: My child only wants screens over the holidays. What can I do?
Swap rather than ban. Keep reading at the same time each day, start with comics, funny books or a series they already like, and read some of it aloud together. A book they picked themselves is the easiest one to start.
Q: When is the winter break in my country?
For the 2026–27 school year: Singapore: late November to 31 December; UAE: 14 December to 3 January; India: late December into January (varies by state and school); United States and Canada: about two weeks over Christmas and New Year; United Kingdom: about two weeks over Christmas and New Year; Australia: mid-December to late January or early February (see the summer plan). Check your child's school calendar, since schools can differ.
Q: Are there good holiday books for kids?
Holiday and winter stories are a nice way in, but any book your child loves works over the break. Bookstaken's free quiz picks seven books matched to your child's age and interests.
Q: Can we have sessions while we travel over the holidays?
Yes. Sessions are online on Google Meet, so they work from anywhere with a stable connection, at a time booked in your own time zone. You can also pause sessions over the break and pick them up when school starts.
