Questions parents ask

How do I help a lonely child?

Listen first, then make friendship easier: one regular friend, one weekly activity built around something they love, and practice at joining in. Give them more people to talk to, such as a grandparent, coach or mentor. Get help if it lasts for weeks or comes with low mood.

Why is my child fine at school but melts down at home?

Often it is after-school restraint collapse: they hold it together all day and let go where they feel safe. A snack, quiet time and fewer questions in the first hour home usually help.

Can books help with feelings and friendships?

Yes. Stories let children see that others feel the same, give them words for their feelings, and give them something to talk about with friends. They work best alongside real connection.
